Jeremy Sullivan is a Philadelphia native who graduated from Abington Friends School before earning a B.A. in History and English from Oberlin College, and a M.A. and Ph.D in History from the University of Maryland, where he specialized in the History of Education in America. Dr. Sullivan came to Kohelet from YSC Academy where he served as Dean of Students and Faculty and History Department Chair and helped to write curriculum, secure accreditation, and create policies and procedures as part of the team that established and opened the school in 2013. Prior to that, Dr. Sullivan taught history, humanities, and social studies at the middle school, high school, and college levels at several different schools and universities in the greater Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and Philadelphia areas. He has also worked in academic accreditation for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and as a Program Director and Administrator of American History Scholars programs supported by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History at several public high schools in Maryland and Washington, D.C. He lives with his wife, Dr. Amy Widestrom, a college professor, and their two daughters in Elkins Park.
